Special Notice from United Concordia:
It has come to our attention, certain dental offices are not reporting general anesthesia services correctly. The 837D shows large numbers of services for anesthesia (SV306) which are unlikely for the services performed. It appears, the offices are reporting actual minutes of anesthesia instead of equating it to anesthesia units of service (Procedure code D9223 – 1 unit of anesthesia = 15 minutes). The incorrect reporting is causing delays during claim adjudication.
