Perio Charting Tips
May 24, 2017Did you know there are a number of perio exam customization options available to you? Keep reading for helpful tips to streamline your perio charting process.
From the XLChart View menu, access Periodontal Exam Options:
- Exam Probing Order. Set how the Perio Exam progresses through the mouth. Every Perio Exam 'Script' consists of a Rotation (the direction the cursor moves around the tooth) and a Path (the order in which the Exam placeholder moves from tooth to tooth around the mouth). XLDent includes 8 pre-programmed common scripts, but custom ones can be created. If you are customizing this, refer to the XLDent User Guide for more info about script values and the corresponding fields.
- Display Numeric Measurements. On the Perio Exam chart, choose your preferred display for Pocket, Recession, MGJ and CAL.
- Exam Sequence Auto Advance. This options allows the Exam placeholder to automatically advance to the next tooth in the script path once all the fields have been moved through in the rotation for the current tooth. If not selected, 'Enter' or 'Next' is used to advance to the next tooth.
- Copy Last Exam into New. This allows you to copy the Patient's last Perio Exam values into a New Exam for today. This can expedite charting, allowing for quick updating of changes. If selected, a prompt will appear at the start of each New Exam to copy or not.
- Current, Compared, and Flag Colors. Identifies the color that appears for the numeric values and graphic depths.e pocket depth (greater than) to flag on the chart.
- Flag Depth. The pocket depth (greater than) to flag on the chart.
- Voice Feedback. For voice activated charting, this sets the amount of time between when a command is spoken and when it is repeated back by the voice engine.
