Internet Safety
In this digital age of computers and the Internet, comes the volatility of the Worms, Trojans, Viruses, and Exploits. And unfortunately, there are new viruses mutating every day. In order to minimize your risk of computer infection and security breaches, there are a few key steps you need to take.
1. Install virus protection software on your computer network. PEB XLDent™ recommends Symantec Corporate (Server) or Symantec 5 User Small Business Pack.
2. Keep your virus definitions updated. NOTE: This does not mean you won’t get a virus. Virus software is reactive and not proactive.
3. If you have high speed DSL service, install a hardware firewall. PEB XLDent™ recommends Sonicwall Firewalls.
4. Use common sense. Don’t open attachments from questionable sources, never download from “popups”, etc.
If you plan to be on the Internet, you owe it to yourself to understand the tools you are using and the consequences of using the internet irresponsibly. An infected computer system can cause a lot of damage in todays networked economy. You are responsible for keeping your Internet experience safe.
