Is my phone system compatible?

Message on Hold & Telephone System Compatibility

Below is a list of common phone system manufacturers along with a brief description of the connection method.  Telephone systems are typically located in a closet or back room at your practice. They are usually mounted on the wall at the point where the telephone lines come in to the office.  Installation of the message on hold system is relatively simple and can typically be completed without the assistance of your telephone company.

Manufacturers/Connections:
  1. Avaya/Lucent/AT&T Partner systems.
The MOH port is located inside the off-white cabinet. Simply remove the cover and locate Music on Hold (MOH) port located in the middle of one of the system cards. Complete the RCA Plug connection from the 600 ohm output of the unit and set the volume.

  2. Toshiba
The MOH port is located inside the off-white or black cabinet. Simply remove the cover and locate the MOH port located at the bottom or top of one of the system cards. Complete the RCA Plug connection from the 600 ohm output of  the unit and set the volume.

  3. Intertel/Premier
The MOH/Music port may be located on the right side of the telephone system, or simply remove the cover and locate the MOH/Music port on one of the system cards. Complete the mini plug connection from the 600 ohm output of  the unit and set the volume.

  4. Panasonic Telephone System - not single line telephones.
The MOH/BGM port is located on the right side or inside of the gray cabinet. To open the cabinet, turn the silver screws on the right side. Complete the mini plug connection from the 600 ohm output of the unit and set the volume.

  5. Comdial/Northern Telecom/Vodavi/Nitsuko
These have message on hold capability, however in most cases they will require a telephone technician to install the on hold equipment. If you currently have music or messages playing on hold, simply utilize the existing wiring to connect to the on hold box.

  6. Single Line Telephones - No telephone system.
If you purchased your phones at a retailer or out of a catalog, you do not have a telephone system. These telephones require a special box that enables them to play messages on hold. Installation of this box is done at the office by any personnel.   **These boxes do not work on cordless telephones.
