2015 Academy of Dental Management Consultants Meeting

Posted November 3, 2015 by Andre M

Having fun in Washington, DC…check out my photo!

The ADMC meeting here in Washington DC is one of many meetings that XLDent will be attending as part of the ADA Annual Session. This year the ADMC is putting on two full day meetings.  This meeting gives us the opportunity to listen to many of the best dental consultants around the world so we can keep XLDent on the cutting edge.

XLDent continues to get positive feedback on our electronic dental record and our wireless tablet PC advancements.  They are also impressed with the paperless environment XLDent offers, creating a much better clinical work flow than most of the competition.

The featured speaker this morning is Nancy Butler on taking control of your business.  Nancy has written many best sellers and is a motivational speaker and business coach. Tomorrow’s presenter will be David Cohen on Legal Matters Related to You and Your Clients.

2014 ADA Annual Meeting in San Antonio, TX

Posted October 8, 2014 by Dawn

XLDent is here in San Antonio, TX at the ADA Annual Session.  The beginning of our week started with SCDI Working Group Meetings and getting up to speed on various projects.  Most of our time was spent with the Subcommittee on Clinical Informatics chaired by Dr. Mark Diehl.  Working Group 11.1 (Standard No. 1080) is under this Subcommittee and is focused on developing an Implementation Guide for Standards in Clinical Data Architecture.  XLDent is actively participating in this workgroup to further development and implementation of a standard for the Electronic Dental Record and clinical charting.

At the meeting Dr. Greg Zeller introduced a subject for a possible new work item; it would cover what information is to be given to the patient when they request their information from their EHR.  This would be a new project based on the requirements of Proposed ANSI/ADA Standard No. 1080 for Implementation of ADA Standard No.1067 – EDR Standard Functional Requirements. Other members suggested it might not need to be a new standard but rather an implementation guide based on Meaningful Use or HIPAA requirements. Dr. Zeller asked the Subcommittee on Information Exchange to develop a new work item proposal for either a new standard or technical report.   Action Item: The ADA SCDI Subcommittee on Information Exchange will develop a new work item proposal for either a new standard or technical report on patient record set–EHR information provided to the patient.

Other working groups that sparked our interest include:

WG 10.4  Data Redundancy – Dr. Scott Benjamin

WG 10.10 Electronic Dental Claim – Dr. Carla Evans

WG 10.11 Guidelines for Hardware and Software – Dr. Mohaednazir Harunani

WG 10.14 IHE Dental Domain – Dr. Kirt Simmons

WG 10.15 Teledentistry – Open

WG 12.1 Digital Imaging – Dr. Scott Benjamin

Stay tuned for more news later….we will be at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center this afternoon running through a dress rehearsal for the CE classes being presented Thursday, Friday and Saturday on the Secure Exchange of Digital Images and EHR Data for Patient Treatment.

XLDent Update from the ADA in New Orleans!

Posted October 31, 2013 by Dawn

We are here at the ADA Annual Session in New Orleans!  Yesterday was a busy day filled with SCDI meetings.  As you know…or may not know, XLDent is co-chair of workgroup 11.1 – Standards for Clinical Data Architecture to further the establishment of standards for the Electronic Dental Record.  It was a very productive day of meetings, but we still have a ways to go towards our goal of writing an implementation guide for developers.  It was great to meet the group members in person, and the lively discussions re-energized all of us in our effort to standardize the electronic dental data set

Today, I’ll be attending meetings about the IHE Dental Domain and the exchange of dental records. The dental domain is new this year, so it will be interesting to see if any vendors will be participating in the 2014 Connectathon.

Off to another meeting!

Today, XLDent is with the ADA Standards Committee on Dental Informatics at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting in Chicago, IL.  XLDent Dental Practice Management Systems will be chairing the committee responsible for defining the dental chart portion of the new ANSI/ADA Standard number 1067 for electronic dental health record systems.  This is an important document that will help drive forward the standards for a common Electronic Dental Record.  XLDent is always looking to improve the future of dentistry by looking ahead and adapting to change, and to help create faster workflows and a better patient experience.
